Getting Started
- Installation: Before using Key 3 Documents, you need to install the add-on from the Google Workspace™ Marketplace. Once installed, it will be available in any of your Google Docs™.
Using Key 3 Documents
- Access the Add-on:
- Open a Google Docs™ document.
- Click on ‘Key 3 Documents’ in the menu bar.
- Navigate to and click on ‘Enable Fillable Doc’.
- Confirmation Prompt:
- Upon selecting ‘Enable Fillable Doc’, a confirmation dialog box will appear.
- This is to ensure you are aware that the original document format can’t be recovered after the converted document is refreshed.
- Click ‘Yes’ to proceed or ‘No’ to cancel.
- Making the Document Fillable:
- The add-on will scan your document for sequences of underscores and transform them into fillable fields.
- This add-on is particularly beneficial for creating forms and templates directly within Google Docs, eliminating the need for tedious conversions to PDF files. It streamlines the process of gathering information, making the process more efficient, interactive and usable, thus saving time and storage.
Tips for Best Results
- Preparing Your Document: For optimal results, format your document with underscores where you want fillable fields before using the add-on.
- If lines stretch to occupy more than one line, make sure you break each line by hitting “Enter” by the end of each line if you want to see multiple fillable lines after conversion. Otherwise you only get one fillable line but it’ll still stretch out to the next fillable line as to type toward the end of the first converted fillable line.
- Saving a Copy: It’s recommended to save a copy of your original document as the changes made by the add-on are irreversible once the converted documents are refreshed..
